The procedure is applicable to cigarettes that burn along the length of the tobacco column and equivalent to those described in ISO 12863 and ASTM E2187.
Procedure
Cigarettes that have been lit are placed in an ignition propensity test chamber on a standard substrate and monitored for ‘full length’ burn. During the test, cigarettes are recorded as ‘full length burn’ when the cigarette continues to burn to or past the front plane of the tipping paper (or past the metal pins for non-filter tip cigarettes). They are recorded as ‘not full length burn’ when the cigarette ceases to burn before reaching the front plane of the tipping paper (or the tips of the metal pins for non-filter tip cigarettes).
