Brands are under attack from counterfeiting. And it’s becoming more widespread. Counterfeiters will target any product where they perceive they can profit easily. And while governments are also losing out (the Institute of Economic Affairs estimates that counterfeit spirits alone result in a £1.2bn annual tax loss in the UK), the highest risk is posed by consumer safety issues.
